Two games were scheduled at the club Saturday night. With the success of last week's play-test, Secretary Robert Scholtz put on another The Men Who Would Be Kings (MWWBK) game and CSGA Vice President Cal Pearson put on XenoShyft: Planet Dreadmire. For the second play-test of MWWBK Robert added buildings and a crewed weapon. The game's scenario was the Battle for the Well at Hasheen where a small British force attempted to retain control of a small Sudanese village and its well against mass hordes of Mahdist warriors. Six players took part in the game with two playing the British and four playing the native Mahdists. With the addition of buildings and sandbag defenses a number of questions arose as the players tried to resolve ambiguities in the rules. Still the game saw a lot of action where the Mahdists were able to capture the village and drive the British off the battlefield.
XenoShyft: Planet Dreadmire is a cooperative sci-fi game whose game system combines deck-building and resource management with fast-paced combat. During the game players builds up a deck of troop and item cards, which they use to defend the base against enemies in deadly combat. Four players took part in the game and was well received by everyone who played. Though the primary focus of the CSGA is historical gaming many science fiction and fantasy games are played at the club.
