Saturday Night Game Recap

This Saturday the CSGA held its "Take Your Spouse to Dinner" event at the Sunbird Restaurant in Colorado Spirngs. Cocktails began at 3:15 PM, which allowed for a little socializing at our seats prior to the actual dinner. Ten couples and a few friends attend the event, largest yet held, where everyone enjoyed great food and good conversation.

After the dinner, the club held its weekly game night at the Falcon Station community room. Three games were scheduled for the evening. Walt William's put on his WFG 2.0 Almost Written game set in the Pacific Theater during World War II. The game's scenario was set in 1941 and represented the Japanese advance to capture Singapore from the British. The scenario was primarily an infantry battle due to the jungle terrain of Southeast Asia. The game had room for up to eight players to take part in the battle.

Dick Fickes and Paul Pease put ran a hex-based version of Napoleon's Battles set during the Eastern Renaissance period. The rules were adapted for the time period being played and the armies. Paul modified the range pf artillery based on the different ground scale and figure ratio being used. Also some new rules were added to account for light troops and skirmishers. They field tested five armies: the "allies" consisting of contingents of Poles, Muscovites, Cossacks, and German Imperialists. Each of these contingents (corps?) contained at least one unit of every type Dick had to field for that contingent. The allies faced off against the Turks. The Turks also had at least one unit of every type Dick had to field for them. The game had room for at least five players, one for each faction, but more were welcome to play.

The third game played was Zombicide, which was put on by Peter Hope and his two children. Along with the game, Pete brought Girl Scout Cookies for club member to buy and support one of the local Colorado Springs Girl Scouts troups.
