Two games and a new face were the highlights of the night at this past weekend's game night. Peter Hope, Al Mauer, and Robert Scholtz put on a test-game of the new Blood and Plunder pirate game by Firelock Games. Blood and Plunder is a game set during the "Golden Age of Piracy" (circa 1660-1680) in the Caribbean and is a skirmish level game using 28mm miniatures. There is both a land portion and sea portion to the rules allowing players to fight both land battles and naval engagements. Unit size are small and the game play is fairly quick. The night's game was the first test of the rules and only a small land battle was fought between Spanish and English units. Peter, Al, and Robert have all purchased miniatures through Firelock Games' kickstarter campaign giving each of them a good variety of units from the major pirate groups of the age.
The other game played was Star Wars: X-WIng sci-fi game based on the Star Wars movies. The game was put on by Eric Widiger and about six players took part. Star Wars: X-Wing is played routinely and is a favorite of some of the younger members of the club.
In addition to the games played, a new potential member of the CSGA stopped in to say hello. Mark Wells is a former instructor at the United States Air Force Academy has a long-time interest in miniature and board wargaming. Mark knows many of our current members and he's looking forward to becoming a member of the CSGA.
