Two games were on tap this past Saturday night. Peter Hope hosted another play-test of the new miniature pirate game Blood and Plunder and Andy Oertig put on a Blue Max World War I aerial combat scenario. Peter's game was the second play-test of the Blood and Plunder rules and for this game Peter added cannons to the mix. Four players took part and each player controller either three or four units, plus two ship cannons. The objective of the game was to capture an old remote ruin in the jungles of central America. The game allowed players to practice moving their units through both open terrain and through areas of cover. The Blood and Plunder game system makes using cover very important as units caught out in the open are easily destroyed. Peter's plans for the next game is to test out how to use ships in the game.
Blue Max is a very popular game at the club and Saturday night's game saw 11 players valiantly dogfighting over the fields of western Europe. There have been a number of Blue Max campaigns that have been run at the club and this game might the beginning of another. The scenario was set late during World War I allowing players to fly some of the better fighters of the war. Each side started on opposite sides of the gaming table, but quickly a massive dogfight was commenced. Both veteran players and players new to Blue Max took part and it was a great way to expose new club members to genre. Below are pictures of the game.
