Two games were put on at the club this past Saturday night. Robert Scholtz put a Lion Rampant game for four players and Eric Widiger put on a American Civil War game. Lion Rampant is on of Ospreys historical miniatures rules set depicting battle during the late dark ages into the middle ages. In Robert's scenario a group of Vikings attempt to capture a stone bridge leading into the English heartland that is being defended by a small Anglo-Saxon force. Lion Rampant is a fast pace game and the game moved along quite quickly with the Vikings capturing the bridge from the Saxons. The battle was a bloody affair with both sides suffering many casualties. Below are a few pictures of the game.
Eric Widiger's civil war game was set during 1862 and was a replay of the Battle of Hatchie Ridge that was fought on 5 October 1862 in southern Tennessee. Four players took part and the goal of the scenario was for the Union forces to attack and capture a vital gap through the ridge so they could attack the main Confederate army operating in Tennessee. The ruleset used for the game was Johnny Reb 2.5. Eric has hosted many games using these rules and his games have been quite popular.
