Saturday Game Night Recap - First Game Night of 2018

The 2018 gaming season kicked off this past Saturday night at the club. Two games were played and club member Dan Brewer brought in a number of miniatures and terrain to sell to interested club members. The main game of the evening was Distinguished Flying Cross (DFC), which was put on by Larry Neal. DFC and it's World War I variant are quite popular here in the club and Larry's game was a great way to ring in a new year of miniature gaming. A big crowd took part in the game that was set during World War II. Players take command of various fighter and bomber planes of the era and battle it out in the skies over Europe. Every game sees a lot of action and a lot of friendly banter between players flying their aircraft.

The other game of the evening was a play-test of the rules Wolsung by Tom Monaghan and Cal Pearson. Wolsung is steampunk skirmish game: 'set in the world of Wolsung – a universe where unusual ladies and gentlemen struggle to achieve power, fame and wealth. It’s a world of steam, magic, huge industrial factories and weird inventions.' The game is designed up to four players to player with each player controlling a number of prime characters along with other non-player characters (ie henchmen). Each player has a set of cards that effect the action on the game table. The game uses standard six sided dice and is designed to be a fast paced game.
