Saturday Night Game Recap - 100th Anniversary of the death of the Red Baron


This past Saturday was the 100th Anniversary of the death of Baron Manfred von Richthofen, who is better known as the Red Baron. To mark the anniversary retired United State Air Force Academy instructor Mark Wells presented a short presentation on "The Life & Death of the Red Baron." Mark has given this presentation to scores of audiences, which included numerous photos from on-site in Europe. After the presentation Andy Oertig put on a game Canvas Eagles. Canvas Eagles has been played numerous of times at the club including several multi-month campaigns over the past few years. This aerial game allows players to fly the different World War I fighters and bombers of the Allies or the Central Powers. The game is quite popular here at the club and with it being the anniversary of the death of the Red Baron, a large crowd of club members took part in the game.

In addition to Canvas Eagles, Paul Pease put on a play-test of his armor rules for his quick-play Advance Squad Leader game he's designed for play with miniatures. This was another play-test of his rules with this game focusing on his armor rules.
