A new game to the club was put on by CSGA member Ed Strecker Saturday night. The game played was What a Tanker! by British miniatures wargame company Too Fat Lardies, which depicts tank combat during World War II.
Two Fat Lardies describe the game as "a fun and fast game of WWII tank combat which focusses on the players taking command of one (or more) tanks and fighting their way through the battlefields of WWII. What a Tanker! challenges you to take the role of a tank commander and to lead your crew to victory."
Nine players took part in the game divided into two teams. One side played an advancing Soviet tank force made up of T-34/85 tanks that are trying to break through a German defensive position support by a number of various Panzers including Tiger tanks. Some three waves of Soviet tanks advanced against the German defenders who destroyed several of the attackers. Two Soviet tanks were able to exit the battlefield by the end of the game. As this was the first play of the game at the club there were a lot of talk about how the game is played and about how to modify game play to speed up the action.
The game was well received by the club members who played and What a Tanker! should be making more appearances at the club.
