Saturday Night Game Recap

Only one game was scheduled to be played at the club last night . The game was put on by Robert Scholtz and was a sci-fi miniatures game called "Fistful of Lead: Galactic Heroes." The game is put out by Wiley Games and is their sci-fi ruleset from their Fistful of Lead series of games. The publisher describes the game as a game where "you’ll take on the role of a Hero or Villain, leading a scruffy pirate crew looking for adventure, or maybe a troop of faceless soldiers of the Empire in search of bringing order to the galaxy. It’s really up to you! Galactic Heroes allows you to play a small-scale wargame in the far-flung future, a galaxy, far, far away, a grim, dark future 40,000 years from now, or a certain Red Planet where swords and ray guns reign supreme. Whatever YOU think Sci-Fi looks like, from your favorite Space Opera to gritty Pulp epic."

The game is a skirmish level game with players controlling small groups normally made up of between 3 to 6 figures. Player activation uses a normal deck of 52 playing cards and rank order of the cards determines the order of play. This was the first play-test of the rules and several club members have showed a lot of interest in the rules. Hopefully this game will make many appearances at the club.

The evening's scenario saw a group of Dalek warriors attempting to attack and either capture or destroy a radar site being run by Unit Nations Intelligence Taskforce (UNIT) soldiers. The game was a bloody affair where the over confident Daleks defeated by the resourceful humans who used a multi-prong attack to repel and destroy the aliens.
