Three new games were played at the club this past Saturday night. Two miniatures game and one board game was played with about a dozen players taking part. The game with the most participation was a board game put on by Bernie Santucci called Ancient Civilizations of the Inner Sea. This board game is set in antiquity and follows the development of up to five different kingdoms/empires located around the Mediterranean Sea starting in bronze age and advancing through epochs of time. Five players took part in the game which lasted throughout the evening.
The two miniature games had one set on the high seas and the other set during the middle ages. The naval game was a play-test of the new Black Seas Napoleonic era sea battle game, which was put on by Peter Hope. Being the first play of the these rules, one real objectives were set for the game other than to test out the rules. Four club members commanded different ships in a two against two battle. Club member Robert Scholtz supplied some flashing canon markers, which added to the game. Overall it was a good play-test of the rules and there appears to be good interest in the games.
The other miniatures game was Pikeman's Lament, which was put on by Doug Rains. The game is one in the series of Osprey miniature rulesets that have come out over the past few years. Two players took part in the game set around a small village somewhere in Europe where each player's objective was to drive their opponent away and claim the town.
