Saturday Night Game Recap - Another good night at the club

There was another good turn-out at the club Saturday night with several games being played. Featured games included NCO, put by Walt Williams and Johnny Reb 2.0, put on by Eric Widiger. In addition to these to miniatures games, a Star Wars Imperial Assault game was played and sign-up meeting for club members interested in joining a Rangers of Shadow Deep campaign took place.

Walt has put on several test games of the NCO rules and has been adding a number of changes/upgrades to make the game run faster and balance out the hand-to-hand rules of the game. The night's game was a repeat of the scenario Walt ran last week to see how his changes affected play. Six players took part as once again a Soviet landing force attempted to link-up with a scout unit on an Axis held island. The game lasted three turns as Walt tested his rules changes from last week. The game was bloody affair with both sides taking a lot of casualties. Areas for possible rules changes include changing the effectiveness of hand grenades and lessening the effect of losing Courage during melee. The game was another good test of the rules and NCO should be making more appearances at the club.

Four players took part in Eric's civil war game simulating a medium sized meeting engagement between Union and Confederate forces. The United States Civil War isn't played as often as other historical periods and it's nice when Eric has time to put on game at the club. The battle had both sides fighting for control of an important set of cross-roads, which ensure a lot of action as side attacked and counter attacked to hold the objective.

Below are pictures of the games played Saturday night. The first four pictures are of Walt's NCO game, the second set of two pictures are of Eric's civil war game, and the last two photos are of the Star Wars game played at the club.
